Cash-Based Interventions Restoring Dignity
When seasonal floods, severe tremors, or economic shocks destroy mud-brick homes in isolated valleys, families need immediate, flexible financial support to rebuild. ODSAD prioritizes unconditional cash transfers that stimulate local trade and allow families to purchase exactly what they need.
In Ishkamish District, ODSAD partnered with UN OCHA and Mission East in 2025 to execute a direct cash distribution program providing over 1,200 vulnerable families with shelter repair grants and winterization supplies.
Unconditional Cash Grants
Encashment vouchers disbursed through vetted money service providers (Hawala / authorized financial institutions) with post-distribution monitoring.
Transitional Shelter Kits
Heavy timber beams, corrugated galvanized iron (CGI) sheets, and structural toolsets delivered to families repairing collapsed walls.
Winterization Supplies
Thermal fleece blankets, heating stoves, and clean heating fuel vouchers to protect vulnerable children and elderly during freezing mountain months.
