Organization for Afghan Women Capacity and Knowledge

Who We Are

The Organization for Development Services and Agricultural Development (ODSAD) is a national
humanitarian organization committed to providing relief and development assistance to
communities in need. We are a non-governmental, non-profit organization, guided by principles
of impartiality and integrity. ODSAD operates independently of political, sectarian, or partisan
affiliations, focusing solely on delivering aid where it is most needed.
Headquartered in Takhar, ODSAD is registered with the Ministry of Economy under registration
number 2669. It was established in 2012 with a primary focus on women's empowerment, capacity
building for women and girls, support for Persons with Disabilities, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR),
rural development, and community mobilization in both rural and urban areas. We achieve our
objectives through strategic partnerships and collaboration with other organizations engaged in
similar activities.
It has worked with AKF, ME, UN Women, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Ministry of
Agriculture. The organization operates in Kabul, Mazar, Badakhshan, and Takhar provinces.
ODSAD operates at the grassroots level and consistently strives to develop human resources
within communities. The program focuses on agricultural development, farmer support, DDR,
education, health, and economic empowerment of marginalized women and girls. It emphasizes
values such as commitment, accountability, mutual respect, and integrity in all its programs and
related activities. The programs are implemented with a holistic approach that is based on
identified needs and does not rely on predetermined packages. They incorporate cross-cutting
themes such as social mobilization, human and institutional development (capacity building),
environmental sustainability, creating viable communities, and gender mainstreaming, following
internationally recognized participatory approaches.
ODSAD programs focus on agriculture development, farmers support, education & capacity
building, health and economic empowerment of marginalized women and girls. ODSAD invests
in people through directly providing support for Health; WASH, Education; and economic
empowerment of women and girls, through development and micro-finance supports, as well as
preventing and responding to GBV and providing survivors of GBV with social and psychological
counselling, legal assistance, case management and advocates to increase women’s legal
protection; promoting equal rights for women and girls to ensure they have an active role in the
Afghan community through enhancing their social, political, economic and cultural participation.

Mandate

OAWCK mandate is a gender inclusive, equitable, hunger free and healthy society through women social, economic and political empowerment, child rights protection, MHPSS counseling capacity building, WASH, Agri support & environmental protection, humanitarian assistance and renewable energy interventions

1. To protect women & children against all forms of violence and to strive for the rights of women/child at all levels of the society through awareness, training, advocacy, media, friendly spaces, psychosocial support and legal assistance .

2. To improve the capacity of afghan women for social, political and economic empowerment and raise awareness for ending violence against women and developing awareness of society on human rights, women rights and child rights.

3. To improve the health & hygiene, WASH, mother & child neuration situation at individual, family and community level through basic health ,WASH, renewable energy , environmental protection and humanitarian assistance services.

4. To enhance the technical capacity of Afghan in agriculture, natural resource management and livestock management to ensure vulnerable families sustainable livelihood and food security.

Medium and Long Term Objectives

  • To insure the protection of women/child right against all forms of violence and to strive for the rights of women/child at all levels of the society through awareness, training, advocacy, media, friendly spaces development, psychosocial support and legal assistance; rights monitoring and right reporting.
  • To provide services to women, girls and children particularly victims of violence and develop institutional coping mechanism for the survivors.
  • To work for poverty reduction through skill trainings, rural enterprise development, livestock management , natural resources management, renewable energy, Agri support and other income generation strategies.
  • To advocate with the government for integrated rural development, environment protection and basic health & sanitization projects for sustainable development while considering the gender inclusive approach.
  • To conduct research studies in different areas, such as, economic, social, agricultural, cultural, health, environment and other aspects of life for sustainable, peaceful and developed Afghanistan.
  • To conserve natural and cultural heritage to secure the needs of present and future generations
